For most lessons, yes — the whole point is that your teacher sees your machine and your fabric. Hand-sewing and mending sessions need nothing but a needle and thread.
It depends on the teacher. Some teach for free, some swap a session for a skill of yours, and some set a price. You can see which on each teacher's page before you book.
You send a request, the teacher accepts and adds their own video link, and you meet at the agreed time. Kindlio never takes payment for a session.
