Terms of Service
Welcome to Kindlio. These terms are a plain-language agreement between you and Kindlio about how our neighborhood skill-sharing app works. By creating an account or using Kindlio, you agree to these terms.
1. What Kindlio is
Kindlio is a neighborhood skill-sharing platform. We provide the website and tools that help neighbors find each other, post skills, send requests, and message one another. The people offering and receiving skills are neighbors like you, not employees or contractors of Kindlio. Kindlio is not a marketplace, payment processor, or escrow service for peer-to-peer skill exchanges.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 to create an account. Keep your login credentials private, use accurate information, and be respectful in your profile, listings, and messages. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
3. Listings and exchanges
When you list a skill, you're telling neighbors what you can teach or help with. When you request a skill, you're asking a neighbor for their time. Both sides are responsible for agreeing on details (time, place, format) before meeting. Kindlio does not guarantee any particular outcome, quality, or safety of an exchange.
4. Payments between neighbors
Kindlio does not process, hold, or guarantee payments between learners and teachers. When a listing has a price, the two neighbors arrange payment directly between themselves (cash, Venmo, Zelle, etc.). Kindlio is not a party to those transactions, does not take a commission on them, and cannot issue refunds or resolve disputes for them.
4a. Kindlio Plus subscription
Kindlio Plus is an optional subscription to the platform itself ($9.99/month or $79.00/year). It unlocks premium features such as paid listings, a verified supporter badge, and priority placement in Browse. The only payments processed through our payment processor (Stripe) are these subscription fees paid by users to Kindlio. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel anytime from your profile and will keep access through the end of the current billing period. See the Refund Policy for details.
5. Meeting safely
Meeting a neighbor in person carries real-world risk. Follow the guidance in our Safety Guide: meet in public first, tell someone where you're going, and trust your instincts. Kindlio does not conduct background checks on neighbors.
6. Content you post
You keep ownership of the profile info, photos, listings, and messages you post. You grant Kindlio a limited license to display that content within the app so other neighbors can find and interact with you. Don't post content that is illegal, harassing, deceptive, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights.
7. Prohibited uses
Don't use Kindlio to sell regulated goods (weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco), professional services that require licensing you don't have, or anything that violates local law. Don't spam, scrape, reverse-engineer the app, or impersonate someone else. Violations can result in listing removal, account suspension, or a ban.
8. Reports and moderation
If a listing, profile, or message concerns you, use the Report button. We review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts at our discretion. We're a small team — please be patient and specific in what you report.
9. Cancellations
Either neighbor may cancel an accepted request with a reason. Please see our Cancellation Policy for how cancellations affect any future paid exchanges.
10. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put neighbors at risk. Content and messages tied to past exchanges may remain visible to the other participant after account closure.
11. Disclaimers
Kindlio is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that any neighbor is skilled, safe, qualified, licensed, or honest, and we don't guarantee that the app is always available or error-free. Categories and listings — including hands-on skills like Home Repair & DIY, Car Maintenance, Cooking, Fitness, Pet Care, and similar activities — are shared by neighbors as peers, not licensed professionals. Kindlio does not review, vet, endorse, certify, supervise, or take part in any exchange, and listing a category does not mean Kindlio recommends, promotes, or advertises it as safe or appropriate for you. You are solely responsible for evaluating any neighbor, skill, or activity before participating, and for hiring a licensed professional when work involves structural, electrical, gas, plumbing, medical, or vehicle safety concerns. Kindlio Plus is a subscription for access to platform features only; it does not include, guarantee, or insure any skill exchange or payment between neighbors. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kindlio and its team are not liable for any injury, illness, death, property damage, financial loss, or any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the app, any listing, or any interaction with another user. You participate at your own risk.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Kindlio grows — especially when we introduce payments. We'll post the updated date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
