Privacy Policy

This page explains what information Kindlio collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as we need to run a good neighborhood app.

Information you give us

When you sign up, we collect your name, email, and password. When you fill out your profile, we collect a bio, general location (neighborhood or city — not exact address), skills you can teach or want to learn, and an optional photo. When you post a listing or message a neighbor, we store that content so the other person can see it.

Information we collect automatically

When you use Kindlio we collect basic technical information (device type, browser, IP address, pages visited) to keep the app secure and improve it. We do not sell this data.

How we use your information

We use your information to run Kindlio: to show your profile and listings to other neighbors, to deliver messages, to send transactional emails (like request notifications and password resets), to keep the app safe from abuse, and to improve how it works.

What other neighbors can see

Your first name, general location, verified badge, bio, teach/learn tags, active listings, and public reviews are visible to other Kindlio users and can appear in search engine results. Your email, exact address, phone number, and private messages are not shown publicly.

Email

We send transactional emails you'd expect: request notifications, message alerts, verification, password resets, and cancellation notices. You can adjust preferences or unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time via the unsubscribe page. Some emails (like password resets) are required and can't be turned off.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run Kindlio: our backend/database and authentication (Supabase), email delivery, and Stripe for Kindlio Plus subscription billing. These providers handle limited data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy commitments.

Payments

Kindlio does not process payments between neighbors — any money exchanged for a paid listing is handled directly between you and the other neighbor. For the optional Kindlio Plus subscription, payment details (card, billing address) are collected and stored by Stripe, not by Kindlio. We only receive limited information such as subscription status, plan, and renewal date.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technology to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the app is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may break parts of the app.

Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and listings; messages and completed exchange records may remain visible to the other participant. We may retain limited records for legal, tax, and safety purposes.

Your choices and rights

You can view and edit your profile at any time, download your data on request, delete your account, and unsubscribe from non-essential emails. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (like access, correction, or deletion under GDPR or CCPA). Email us at privacy@kindlio.app to make a request.

Children

Kindlio is for adults (18+). We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections, hashed passwords, row-level database security — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and let us know right away if you suspect your account has been compromised.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page as Kindlio evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
