Cancellation Policy

Life happens. This policy explains how cancellations work on Kindlio today (free exchanges) and how they will work once paid exchanges launch. The goal is fairness for both the neighbor teaching and the neighbor learning.

Free exchanges (today)

Either the teacher or the learner can cancel a pending or accepted request at any time. When you cancel, we ask for a short reason and notify the other neighbor by email. There is no fee. Please cancel as early as you can so the other neighbor can plan around it.

No-shows

If a neighbor doesn't show up to an agreed meeting, mark the exchange as cancelled from your dashboard and add a brief note. Repeated no-shows may result in account suspension. If you feel unsafe, do not confront the neighbor — leave and use the Report button.

Rescheduling

Rescheduling isn't a cancellation. Message the other neighbor through Kindlio to agree on a new time. If you can't find a new time that works, then cancel with a reason and (if you'd still like to learn or teach) send a fresh request.

Paid exchanges between neighbors

Kindlio doesn't process payments between learners and teachers. When a listing has a price, you arrange payment directly with the other neighbor (cash, Venmo, Zelle, etc.). That means Kindlio can't issue refunds — but here are the community norms we ask everyone to follow:
  • Cancel 24+ hours ahead: no payment should be owed.
  • Late cancel or no-show by the learner: consider paying at least half to respect the teacher's held time.
  • Teacher cancels or no-shows: no payment is owed, and if any deposit was already sent, the teacher should return it.
  • Safety issues: cancel immediately, do not send payment, and report through the app.
Repeated no-shows or bad-faith behavior can lead to suspension from Kindlio.

Kindlio Plus subscription

Kindlio Plus is a monthly ($9.99) or yearly ($79.00) subscription that unlocks paid listings and other perks for teachers. Cancel anytime from your profile — you keep access through the end of the current billing period. See the Refund Policy for billing questions.

Disputes

If you and a neighbor disagree about a cancellation or refund, contact us at support@kindlio.app with the request ID and a short description. We'll review both sides and make a decision based on this policy and any evidence available in the app.

Changes

We may update this policy — especially as paid exchanges launch and we learn what works. Changes take effect for new requests only; a request already accepted keeps the policy that was in effect when it was accepted.
